N.B. Crime Stoppers and Alcool NB Liquor are working together to raise awareness regarding the persistent problem of adults providing alcoholic beverages to people under 19 years of age.
Under the Liquor Control Act, it is a serious offence to provide alcoholic beverages to anyone under 19. The fine for a first offence is $292.50. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $5,120. While some adults may be persuaded to think they're doing a favour for a young person by buying them alcohol, it is illegal and can result in a substantial fine.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest of individuals procuring or selling alcohol to people under 19 years of age. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). We want your information, not your name.
